Scarlett Johansson‘s back tattoos took center stage when she hit the red carpet for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her new film, Eleanor the Great.
The actress, 40, was a vision in a floor-length blush pink Valentino gown that was custom-made by the house’s new creative director, Alessandro Michele, while promoting her new film — which marks her directorial debut — on Monday, September 8.
Her off-the-shoulder dress featured a ruched bodice, an elegant bow that tied around her waist, a flowing train and a low-cut back, which drew attention to her ink: a vine of intricate roses that wraps around a baby lamb.
Johansson opted for a top-knot updo, completing her look with sparkling silver accessories for the TIFF event in honor of her film about an older woman who relocates to New York City after a “devastating loss,” per an official synopsis.
The Jurassic World Rebirth star has at least nine known tattoos, including a bracelet design with a Thor’s hammer charm on her wrist, a sunrise tattoo on her left arm and an Avengers logo that she got with her costars.
Johansson’s former costar Robert Downey Jr. revealed in 2018 that five of the original six Avengers got tattooed.
“It was Johansson’s idea, and she and [Chris] Evans did it in New York. Then, their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing, flew out to L.A., he did me, did [Jeremy] Renner, and then we just bullied [Chris] Hemsworth into doing it, and he got it. And each one of us drew a line on the artist with his own tattoo gun and it was a total massacre,” the actor quipped to Entertainment Weekly.
“By the way, he’s got another one on him that Scarlett did, which is beautiful, which is crazy, because the line she drew on him, which was just supposed to be a straight line, looked like a lightning bolt. It was a mess,” Downey Jr. added.
Eleanor the Great hits theaters on September 26.
