Influencer Stacey Hatfield’s husband, Nathan Warnecke, is shedding light on her final moments before her death.
“If there’s one thing that I can try and reconcile in this horrible time is that her last moments on earth were the happiest I’ve ever seen her,” Warnecke wrote via Instagram on Sunday, October 19. “Her memory will remain with those of us that knew her as the ditzy, green-eyed, blonde haired girl whose smile could fill a room.”
Warnecke announced the news on Sunday that Hatfield died after giving birth to the couple’s son, Axel, in their home.
“Tragically, shortly after, an unforeseen and extremely rare complication arose and she passed after being transferred to hospital,” he wrote. “Hospital staff were amazing and did the utmost to help, but ultimately nothing could be done despite their best efforts.”
In his tribute to Hatfield, Warnecke called the influencer — who amassed more than 19,000 followers on her Natural Spoonfuls Instagram account — his “soulmate and best friend.”
“I knew Stace for 9 amazing years, she was the light of my life and the reason I got up in the morning,” he continued. “Words can’t do justice to how devastating this is for myself and everyone that knew and loved her. She was my lighthouse in the storm and the world is less bright without her in it. As her husband, I couldn’t ask for a better partner. She was the most beautiful, loving, caring, hardworking, disciplined, intelligent and trustworthy human being i’ve ever known. She made me the man I am today and everything I have in life is all thanks to her.”
In Warnecke’s post, he reflected on Hatfield’s perspective on motherhood.
“It was her life’s biggest dream to be a mum. She did it. On her terms, exactly the way she always dreamed of doing it. She loved being pregnant and over the last 9 months told our son she loved him everyday,” he wrote. “She held Axel when he was born, nursed him, saw that he was a boy and loved him. She loved him so much and still, continues to love him.”
In a separate post, the pair’s loved ones shared details on a GoFundMe following the arrival of Hatfield and Warnecke’s child.
“On behalf of Nathan and Axel….. It’s hard to find the words, but I want to honour my beautiful friend Stacey and support her family in the way she always supported those she loved,” the Instagram post read. “Stacey was one of my best friends. I was lucky to walk beside her through so many milestones—when she first laid eyes on Nathan, the man who would become her soulmate and the father of her child. I was there when she told me, beaming, that she was pregnant. I saw the photo of her teary smile after Nathan proposed, helped her say ‘yes’ to the dress, and cheered her on at her hens party. I watched her say ‘I do’ with joy in her heart. Now, I’m here for Nathan and Axel.”
The post continued, “Stacey once told me how excited she was to see Nathan become a dad. She knew he would be gentle, devoted, and full of love. And she was right. Seeing Nathan step into fatherhood and witnessing firsthand the bond he shares with Axel is pure magic. Stacey is there with them—in every cuddle, every smile, every quiet moment of love.”
The tribute noted that Warnecke was Hatfield’s “rock” and is now “navigating life as a single parent to Axel,” who “carries Stacey’s spark.”
“Axel is surrounded by love, and we want to make sure Nathan has the time, space, and support to grieve, heal, and raise his son with the care Stacey dreamed of,” the post read. “Stacey and Nathan lived a quiet, love-filled life. They never would have asked for help. So I’m asking on their behalf. Nathan is stepping into fatherhood with unimaginable strength and grace. There’s so much on his plate right now, and if you’re able to support him through this GoFundMe…created by his uncle…it would mean the world.”
