Kristen Bell Limits IG Comments After Dax Shepard Anniversary Post Criticism

Kristen Bell has sparked criticism over her anniversary post for husband Dax Shepard.

“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you,” Bell, 45, wrote via Instagram on Friday, October 17, alongside a photo of the married couple embracing. “A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.’ ❤️.”

In the comments section, some users weighed in on the message.

“Domestic violence isn’t a joke,” one wrote, while another added, “1. Congratulations! 2. I know the caption is supposed to be cute, funny, but worldwide a women[sic] is killed every ten minutes by their partner…#stopviolenceagainstwomen.”

Others, meanwhile, had a different reaction to her caption.

“I was in an abusive marriage for TWENTY THREE YEARS and I love this post. If you don’t want to be triggered, get off the Internet,” one user wrote, while another added, “I was in an abusive relationship and I got out. This post is meant for her husband not to all of us! Why do people have to take it to the next level??? She is talking to her husband but sharing with us. Not everything has a hidden message!”

Bell has since limited her comments on Instagram.

Bell and Shepard, who tied the knot in 2013, welcomed daughters Lincoln and Delta in 2013 and 2014, respectively. The couple have been candid about their romance through the years, including sharing their outlook on their marriage.

“I say this all the time, like, if Kristen and I ever split up, I would only describe this as still an enormously successful relationship,” Shepard, 50, shared on a September episode of his “Armchair Expert” podcast. “Like, we loved each other to death. We had these two beautiful children. We had this great time together.”

Later that month, Shepard joked that Bell is “a little regretful” about not exploring intimacy with others before their marriage.

“She was very active,” Shepard shared during a September episode of his “Armchair Expert” podcast. “She was very sexually active, and she wishes she was even more sexually active.”

Bell, who was a guest on the podcast alongside her Nobody Wants This costar Justine Lupe, added, “I just wish I butterflied around a little bit more. … [Shepard] brought out a ton of sexuality. I was never this sexual before you.”

The next month, Shepard addressed rumors he and Bell are swingers.

“There was a tabloid story about Kristen and I that we were swingers. And I don’t think people even remember that we were swingers,” he said on an October episode of his “Armchair Expert” podcast, while guest Jennifer Aniston joked, “That’s not true?”

“It’s not true,” he continued. “And we could perhaps, under the right circumstance, you know, have a very open dialogue about that, if the right participants presented themselves.”
