Emily Maynard Johnson found love with her now-husband, Tyler Johnson, following her Bachelor Nation tenure.

Maynard Johnson was engaged to NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick when he died in a 2004 plane crash. She was pregnant with their daughter, Ricki, at the time. Years later, Maynard Johnson got engaged to Brad Womack on season 15 of The Bachelor. After their engagement ended soon after, Maynard Johnson served as the next Bachelorette and was briefly engaged to winner Jef Holm.

Returning home to her native Charlotte, North Carolina, after the breakup, Maynard Johnson reconnected with Johnson, whom she knew through their mutual church. They wed in 2014, later welcoming five more children together.

How Tyler Johnson Met Emily Maynard

Maynard Johnson actually met Johnson before she filmed The Bachelorette.

“I met him at church,” she said on Good Morning America in 2017. “He really wanted nothing to do with me. I told my girlfriend I met this guy and he could, like, not be less attracted to me. He was in the friend zone.”

Tyler Johnson and Emily Maynard Have Been Married for 11 Years 

The couple tied the knot in June 2014 on Johnson’s family farm in South Carolina.

“Eleven years. Somehow stronger through every storm,” Maynard Johnson wrote via Instagram in June 2025 for their anniversary. “I’m so proud to be your wife and love you more than words.”

Less than one year after Maynard Johnson and Johnson got married, they welcomed son Jennings in 2015. Sons Gibson and Gatlin followed in 2016 and 2017, respectively. The former Bachelorette later welcomed daughter Magnolia in 2020 and son Jones in 2022.

Maynard Johnson revealed at the time that Jones was born with Down syndrome.

“This journey has been difficult but absolutely beautiful,” Johnson wrote via Instagram in November 2022. “The love of our family and community has been water to our souls. Throughout Johnson’s romance with Maynard Johnson, he has been a strong presence in Ricki’s life.

“He proposed to me at home and gave both Ricki and me rings,” Maynard Johnson exclusively told Us Weekly in January 2014, speaking about her engagement. “It was so sweet. Ricki loves him more than she likes me.”

Johnson was also by Ricki’s side when she graduated from high school in 2024.

“She’s graduated!!! 🎓 About 10 years ago, in basically the exact same place, we became a family,” he wrote via Instagram in June 2024. “I fell in love with this little blonde girl. No one … and I mean no one … loves you more than me 🤍. Except for maybe mommy @emilygmaynard. Congratulations! I am excited for the next chapters!”

Ricki announced in August 2025 that she is expecting her first baby.
