You Need to Watch These 3 Popular Netflix Movies Now (July 14-18)

If the increasingly hot weather can’t keep you indoors, then perhaps some of the cool movies coming to Netflix can convince you to stay inside.

This week, Netflix is having a mid-month reload of a handful of hit films from other studios.

Just to make your viewing plans easier, Watch With Us has selected the three popular Netflix movies you should watch this week.

Our first pick is one of the all-time great blockbusters, followed by a musical and a kick-ass action flick.

‘Jaws’ (1975)

Technically, Shark Week doesn’t start until July 20 this year, but who needs all of those nature programs when you’ve got the best shark movie ever made? Jaws‘ mechanical shark may not look as sharp as it did 50 years ago, but Steven Spielberg‘s gripping direction and John Williams‘ iconic score are always going to elevate this pic.

Roy Scheider gave one of his best performances as Chief Martin Brody, one of the first men who realizes that Amity Island is being stalked by a man-eating great white shark. When the mayor refuses to act, it comes down to Brody, Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and a shark hunter named Quint (Robert Shaw) to face the beast on open waters.

Jaws will stream on Netflix on July 15.

‘Mamma Mia!’ (2008)

If you’re a big fan of ABBA, then you’ve probably already seen Mamma Mia! multiple times. Either way, it’s still worth revisiting this rom-com jukebox musical. Sophie Sheridan (Amanda Seyfried) has a problem in the days leading up to her wedding to Sky Rymand (Dominic Cooper). Although Sophie loves her mom, Donna (Meryl Streep), she wants her long-absent father to walk her down the aisle.

Since Sophie doesn’t know which one of Donna’s former lovers is her father, she invites three of them to her wedding: Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan), Harry Bright (Colin Firth) and Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgård). All three men feel an affinity for Sophie and want to be the one to give her away at the wedding. But which one is her real dad?

Mamma Mia! will stream on Netflix on July 16.

‘Wanted’ (2008)

If Wanted were made today, Chris Pratt would probably have a leading role instead of the throwaway part that he has here. Instead, James McAvoy takes the lead as Wesley Gibson, a typical office drone without many prospects in life. That changes when Wesley meets Fox (Angelina Jolie), an enigmatic woman who brings him into the Fraternity.

The Fraternity is an order of assassins led by Mr. Sloan (Morgan Freeman) who believe that they’re serving the greater good of the world. Fox and the others train Wesley well, but they didn’t teach him everything about the Fraternity. That’s because not all of them know the truth about the organization, and once Wesley finds out, it just may get him killed.

Wanted will stream on Netflix on July 16.
